Every year (barring a global pandemic) Charles de Gaulle Airport sees more than 76 million people departing and arriving in Paris. Named after the famed French WWII hero and president of France, this airport has some serious recognition within France and abroad. And in December 2022, the airport was renamed for a week.
To commemorate International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Charles de Gaulle Airport paid tribute to its namesake’s daughter, Anne, who had Down’s Syndrome. If you happened to be one of the many people who entered or left Paris by plane during that week, you may recall Anne de Gaulle’s name on your boarding pass, luggage tag, road signs, and the front of the terminal.
