Roxy asked, “CARNIES! I have a possibly scary question that might out me as either ignorant or confused.
**What do you define a CAMPAIGN as?**”

Phil gave our favorite answer:

“I use the word campaign like Gretchen Weiners uses the word fetch. Everything I do is a campaign. Boosted social post? Boom, campaign. One-off apology email because I didn’t know what the “pref.” field was and accidentally made all of our French customers into priests? That’s a campaign. Telling people I have to leave a meeting for another meeting that doesn’t exist just so I can eat lunch? Campaign.”

Bethany asked, “OK, friends, what is your preferred marketing automation platform?”

Spiced Pear and Bourbon Sparkler


  • 1 1/2 oz spiced pear simple syrup*
  • 1 1/2 oz bourbon
  • 1/2 oz lemon juice
  • 1-2 oz prosecco
  • Ice

*Spiced Pear Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup pear juice (3 ripe pears blitzed in a blender with a bit of water)
  • 1 small ginger root (grated)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 cloves
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar


  1. In a pot combine pear juice, grated ginger, cinnamon sticks, and cloves.
  2. Cover and let simmer over low heat for ten minutes.
  3. Take off the heat and add 1/4 cup of brown sugar.
  4. Let cool, and strain.
  5. Pour the Bourbon, pear syrup, lemon juice, and ice into a cocktail shaker and shake for 30 seconds.
  6. Strain the drink over a chilled coupe glass, and top with the Prosecco of your choice.
