Carnegie Museum of Art – Digital Content Manager

The Digital Content Manager works collaboratively across multiple departments to inform and implement the museum’s digital content strategy and to meet the organization’s diverse and demanding production and storytelling needs. Working collaboratively and proactively across the museum, they ideate, develop, produce, and implement both static and dynamic content for social media, web, e-mail, public relations, and executive communications; they also collaborate closely with curators and educators to produce enriching digital content that extends the reach of the museum’s exhibitions, programs, and collections. Highly creative, solution-oriented, and forward-thinking, the Digital Content Manager balances their knowledge of and aptitude for 21st-century content strategy with their technical proficiency and readiness to work across a wide range of media forms, such as taped and live audio and video with closed-captioning (both short- and long-form), editorial still photography, web and interactive applications, podcasts, infographics and design, animation and motion graphics, social media stories, and so on. This newly created position, which requires exceptional skills in project management, storytelling, and digital experience design, also provides ongoing technical support for the museum’s efforts to exhibit time-based media and digital artworks onsite and online. The Digital Content Manager supervises one direct report, the Multi-Media Producer.

    The Assistant Director is responsible for the development and integration of strategic digital initiatives to create a pipeline of donors in support of annual giving, student philanthropy, and participation goals. There is a strong focus on current and emerging fundraising technologies including those related to online giving, giving days, e-solicitations, and social media. The Assistant Director works with the Director on strategy related to digital/online giving initiatives and manages the execution of those initiatives across ARD teams including social media support and integration for Annual Giving efforts, online giving program analysis and support, and personal outreach email initiatives. These programs are designed to strategically identify & cultivate prospects, students & alumni in meaningful ways that transition into engaged volunteers & donors.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    Management of strategy and execution with the Director related to programs assigned to the Assistant Director including social media, web, or other digital strategies.

    Management/coordination of program execution related to the integration of social media with existing campaigns and programs – including alumni and student facing programs.

    Compile and summarize results of analytics for social media – make recommendations for enhancements based on data insights.

    Analyze site campaign data to improve donor experience and conversion rates

    Management of the execution related to the online giving/web related campaigns/activities/programs including web reporting (Google Analytics), growth ideation, annual URL maintenance, and ad hoc URL customization/creation.

    Compile and summarize results of analytics for website – make recommendations for enhancements based on data insights.

    Analyze site traffic to improve donor experience and conversion rates

    Assist in setting up donation pages; working with internal and external teams to improve quality and increase conversion rates

    Management of the execution related to personal outreach campaigns focusing on alumni annual giving initiatives.

    Partner with internal and external teams in product or platform development (e.g. website design and development)

    Execute and optimize targeting and retargeting efforts across digital channels.

    Reporting and analytics related to program specific needs.

    Financial/budget balancing and related activities.

    Identification and acquisition of materials/information to successfully execute programs.

    Help to develop innovative outreach techniques to reach targeted cohorts.

    Manage multiple projects simultaneously and understand team priorities in the context of Annual Giving goals.

    Other duties to be assigned related to overall Annual Giving program.

    Serves as liaison to both University and Northwestern Alumni Association (NAA). Key liaison with ARD Marketing and Communications. All members of the Annual Giving – Young Alumni, Student Philanthropy, and Online Giving team support the execution of on campus, student facing events. This position will be based in Illinois and will not have the option to be 100% remote.
