TDC Connections: Digital Marketing

What We Learned

Monday: Later this month, LinkedIn will expand the Thought Leader Ad format so that advertisers can sponsor content from members that aren’t necessarily employees.

Tuesday: Instead of churning out content for pins, think of Pinterest as the ultimate channel for repurposing what you’ve already built to drive web traffic.

Wednesday: Advergaming has a long tradition—from Atari in the 80s and CD-ROMS in the 90s to flash web games in the 00s and smart phone apps today. What kind of advergame will work best for your brand?

Thursday: What comes first, design or copy? At Carney, we think of the relationship between copy and design as similar to electromagnetic waves, or “electric and magnetic fields dancing together in a pas de deux.”

The Conversation

Ashley asked, “What do you all use to send out your company newsletters?”

Allyn asked, “Can you suggest a hashtag tracker/social viewing tool (ideally free, preferably low cost) that you like?”

Sara asked, “Have you ever run a marketing campaign / created a marketing ‘moment’ of any kind in a closed platform or private community—for example, a FB Group, a Discord channel, a Telegram chat, a Geneva channel, or a private community of any description?”

Carrie asked, “Any recommendations for a great tool to keep an editorial calendar?”

Pocket Stats

  • The majority (59%) of marketers feel positively about the Impossible Foods’ red rebrand, which aims to reach new customers beyond its historically academic, green-conscious target.
  • 65% of marketers feel negatively about the generic branding and long-winded name of Meghan Markle’s new luxury lifestyle venture.
