The Power of Questions

JANUARY 2, 2019

Did you know that Google processes over 40k search queries every second? That’s over 3.5 billion searches per day.

What does that mean for you?

It’s time to optimize your content for questions, duh.

Need some convincing?

  • Questions increase your organic search results
  • Questions help you learn what your audience can’t figure out and how you can help them
  • Questions provide an opportunity for increased engagement on social media

How to discover questions to ask:

  1. People Also Ask: this is a new-ish feature for Google. If your question is searched enough, you’ll notice the ‘People also ask’ in the search query. This is a great place to gain insight into what people are searching for in your industry.
  2. Text Optimizer: this tool will extract terms and concepts from the search engine results page (aka SERP) and give you a list of questions you can include in your content.
  3. Google Suggest: head over to Google and type in “how to.” You’ll likely see a list of random topics pop up. Now type in a question related to your industry. Voila.

I Wanna Go Fast

JANUARY 1, 2019

The New Year is a great time to evaluate your current digital assets. Today, we’re talking about website speed. If your site is slow, you’re losing views and hurting your search ranking.

If you’re ready to speed things up, check out these WordPress plugins for your site:

1. Render Faster: WP Fastest Cache: The more traffic your site gets, the more RAM and CPU it uses (AKA: it loads slower). WP Fastest Cache creates a static file for multiple users rather than rendering the same page repeatedly.

2. Big Image Files: WP Smush: That 2MB hero image ain’t gonna cut it anymore. If you’re looking for a simple way to compress your images and not lose quality, download WP Smush for free.

3. Decrease Pageload: BJ Lazy Load. When someone lands on your site, all the content on the page is automatically loaded. If you have a lot of content on the page, the load time is going to be slow. BJ Lazy Load delays loading all of the content until the user is ready.
