Louise Linehan analyzed 300K keywords for Ahrefs to understand what triggers AI Overviews (AIO).
Hereās what she learned:
- AI Overviews populate for low volume, long-tail keywords. These have lower traffic potential but display clearer intent and are often question-focused.
- AIO keywords have an average keyword difficulty of 12,Ā compared to non-AIO keywords (median 33). Ranking for these typically requires fewer referring domains (13 vs. 41 for non-AIO keywords).
- Almost all AIO keywords target informational intentāabout 99.2%, while commercial and transactional intents make up less than 10%.
- People Also Ask and Featured Snippets are prominent in over 99% of AI SERPs.Ā
- Mobile optimization is essential.Ā Mobile traffic dominates AIO queries (81% mobile vs. 19% desktop).

Gassed Up

You remember Enron? The American energy corporation that went down in the flames of internal fraud and corruption 24 years ago?
Well the guys from the Birds Arenāt Real performance-art project have resurrected the Enron brand for parody gold, and theyāre launching their first product: an at-home nuclear conductor.
After a series of deadpan appearances and interviews to build interest and confusion, the new āCEOā introduced the satirical āEnron Eggā in a Jobs-esque announcement video at the āEnron Power Summit.ā
They even staged an old-fashioned CEO pie-in-the-face a la Bill Gates 1998.
The College Company purchased the rights to the Enron name for $275 to communicate āthe dangers of coporatism and corporate greed,ā so thereās really no telling whatās next for the Enron cinematic universe.
