The case for content that works without the click.

šŸŽ¶ Gap is getting into the boy-band business with a new ā€œfashiontainmentā€ strategy.

The Clickless Strategy

Remember when every piece of content had one job: get the click?

That playbook is getting harder to rely on. AI search answers more questions without sending people to a website, while social platforms often favor content that keeps users on the platform. That makes zero-click marketing less about driving an immediate visit and more about delivering enough value that people remember who gave it to them. Semrush defines zero-click marketing as content that provides standalone value without requiring users to click somewhere else.

Try building content that:

  • Answers the question completely instead of saving the useful part for the CTA.
  • Gives each platform a reason to exist rather than reposting the same link everywhere.
  • Focuses on the topics, questions, and problems your audience already cares about.
  • Removes the CTA and link as a test: does the content still stand on its own?
  • Measures branded search, engagement, AI visibility, and direct audience feedback alongside clicks.
  • Treats social posts, newsletters, and other ā€œnon-clickā€ channels as places to build familiarity and trust.

A click is easy to count. Being useful enough to be remembered is harder — and may be the more important job.

Portent Tools

Staring at a blank content calendar? Portent has a tool for that.

Its Content Idea Generator turns a topic into a list of potential headlines, pulling from different content and headline-writing techniques. Some are clever, some are weird, and some might actually get you unstuck.

The site also has tools for previewing SERPs, checking on-page SEO, finding your brand’s tone of voice, and calculating what a click is worth. A nice little toolbox for marketers who’d rather spend time solving problems than staring at a blinking cursor.

The Long Way

Gap and A.P.C. are taking a detour through Paris for their latest collaboration.

Their new short film follows two strangers wandering through Montmartre, with the story unfolding like a little slice of ’60s French New Wave cinema.

There’s a bit of romance, a bit of New York, a lot of Paris, and plenty of time spent getting somewhere the long way around.

Basically, the journey gets more attention than the destination.
