Who’s Comparing You?

Your product doesn’t control every comparison that happens online. And increasingly, AI is pulling those comparisons into the answers it gives buyers.

Foundation’s September 2026 test of 20 ATS buying questions across six AI surfaces found that comparison pages and listicles accounted for 58.7% of source presence overall, while dedicated comparison pages reached 42.1% on direct two-product questions. More importantly, the study found that AI sometimes used one competitor’s comparison page to explain another product’s weaknesses or positioning.

Make sure your brand has evidence for the questions buyers are asking:

  • Create dedicated comparison pages for your most important competitors.
  • Build category pages that help AI understand where your product fits.
  • Cover specific buying criteria like pricing, integrations, features, workflows, and use cases.
  • Keep product and support pages detailed enough to provide first-party evidence.
  • Look at what third-party sites are saying about your product and where those pages appear in AI answers.
  • Test real comparison prompts across multiple AI platforms to see which sources they actually use.

Publishing a comparison page doesn’t guarantee AI will cite it. But leaving the comparison entirely to competitors and third parties means you have even less control over the story.

Don’t miss the latest episode of The Daily Carnage Show to explore AI’s impact on entry-level marketing jobs—and the potential talent pipeline crisis that could follow.

Companies are already hiring fewer junior employees as AI takes over foundational tasks. But those ā€œboringā€ tasks are also where marketers develop judgment, critical thinking, strategic instincts, and creative voice.

So what does an entry-level marketing job look like when AI can handle much of the routine work? And how do we make sure we aren’t optimizing ourselves into a future shortage of experienced marketers?

Shannon breaks down the entry-level talent crisis, the rise of AI-native marketers, the importance of mentorship and apprenticeship, and what young marketers can do to build real expertise in an AI-first world.

OOO 2197

What about setting your out-of-office reply and telling everyone you’ll be back in 171 years.

That’s the idea behind World With Women’s ā€œOOO Until 2197,ā€ created with BETC Paris. The campaign turns a familiar workplace tool into a reminder that, at the current pace, gender equality won’t be achieved until 2197, according to the UN.

Women are being encouraged to set their automatic replies to that date, turning everyday inboxes into a collective statement about how long equality is taking.
