Digital Burnout by The Numbers

Digital burnout is making people spend less time online, and it’s also changing how they participate.

According to new research from Incogni, users are becoming quieter, more selective, and increasingly willing to step away from social media altogether.

Rather than deleting accounts en masse, people are posting less, shrinking their audiences, and treating their online presence more like a chore than a hobby.

The survey of 1,000 U.S. adults found that 51% say maintaining an online presence now feels like work, rising to 60% among Gen Z.

More than half (55%) report posting less than they did five years ago, while 53% have tightened who can view their content. And nearly half (47%) have deleted a social media or messaging app because it was causing stress or anxiety.

The biggest drivers of digital fatigue include:

  • Constant pressure to stay connected
  • Mental health concerns and stress
  • Political content and polarization (44% say it makes them want to withdraw)
  • Growing privacy and security concerns
  • Feeling like social media wastes too much time

So, brands may need to shift away from volume-based content strategies and toward experiences that feel genuinely useful, entertaining, or community-driven.

Embracing more human-centric communication and authentic interactions will be better positioned as audiences grow weary of the always-on internet.

Adomate

Adomate is an AI-powered creative workflow platform built for performance marketers.

It pulls data from sources like Meta Ads Manager, the Meta Ad Library, Amazon, and Trustpilot, then turns those insights into traceable ad concepts that you can review, refine, and launch.

The cool part is that every creative recommendation is linked back to the original data point, making it easier to understand why a particular angle was suggested rather than just trusting the AI.

Ok, Boomer King

Burger King France launched a new “Boomer King” meal designed specifically for those of us who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s.

It pairs classic menu items with collectible merchandise inspired by iconic TV shows like Saved by the Bell, Knight Rider, Charmed, and Beverly Hills, 90210.

Each meal includes one randomly assigned collectible (from socks to mugs), encouraging repeat visits.

The campaign was created by Buzzman and the launch film parodies cheesy television intros from the era, complete with dated graphics, over-the-top music, and self-deprecating jokes about aging.
